This is another amazing lot from Oscar and Francisca Chacón, a couple who are passionate about producing high-quality coffee. In 2005 they saw an opportunity to experiment and explore new possibilities by purchasing their own depulping machine and processing their own coffee instead of selling their cherries to a cooperative at market price. Their experimentation paid off, as they discovered exciting new flavour profiles for their coffee.
As third-generation coffee producers, the Chacóns have honed their skills and expertise over the years. They now produce a wide range of Natural and Honey processed coffees, carefully modulating the drying time to create different effects in the cup.
This lot is a natural processed Laurina varietal. Laurina is a variety of Arabica coffee that originated from Réunion Island, near Madagascar and is also known as Bourbon Pointu due to its elongated shape.
What makes Laurina special is its naturally low caffeine content, which is about one-third to one-half of the caffeine found in typical coffee varieties.
The flavour profile of this coffee is delightfully sweet, making it a perfect choice for filter coffee enthusiasts and those who enjoy exploring adventurous espresso options.
